Lionel Messi live interview recently at Miami

Messi, who has scored nine goals in only six matches since joining Miami, discussed his renewed happiness with Inter Miami on Thursday. He contrasted his experience moving from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain with his current Major League Soccer move, emphasizing the positive shift. After spending two seasons with PSG following his legendary Barcelona tenure, Messi expressed his optimism about life in South Florida. This stands in stark contrast to his time in Paris, where certain PSG fans even booed him as his tenure ended earlier this year.

Reflecting on his move to Paris, he clarified, "My move to Paris wasn't something I desired, nor was leaving Barcelona my intention. It happened suddenly, overnight." He stressed, "Adapting to a completely different environment, both in terms of the city and the sports, was a challenge. However, it's a complete turnaround from what I'm experiencing here."

Having had a strong connection to Barcelona since his arrival at the age of 13 from Argentina, Messi's link was disrupted due to financial issues at the club. Despite rumors of a potential return to Barcelona or a move to the Saudi league, Messi expressed contentment with his decision. He highlighted the joy he and his family found in Miami's lifestyle and the warmth of its people.

Speaking about his decision, Messi said, "I can assure you that I'm delighted with the path we chose. It's not just about the game, but also about our daily life, the enjoyment of the city, and the remarkable reception from the people, not only in Miami." He underscored that the decision was a family endeavor.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is on the verge of securing his first trophy with Miami as they prepare to face Nashville in the Leagues Cup final. This achievement would be significant for the relatively young club in its third season.

Anticipating victory, Messi shared, "Wouldn't it be incredible? A monumental achievement for me and the devoted fans of the club. Winning a title would establish us as a benchmark. The club is young, hasn't been around for long, so securing our inaugural title would be a wonderful accomplishment."

While Messi's arrival in the United States carried great expectations and the potential to boost the sport's popularity, he revealed that his primary focus remains on enjoying the game and his life. "Honestly, I don't dwell on those aspects. I came here to play, to relish football, my lifelong passion. I chose this place for that reason above all," he affirmed.

Messi spoke warmly about his family's adjustment, although they haven't yet found a permanent residence. He also expressed his connection to South Florida's Spanish-speaking community. "From the very beginning, the welcome I received was overwhelming. Miami is full of Latinos, and that makes everything easier," he said. Stressing the warmth and camaraderie within the Latino community, Messi added, "Latinos are more expressive, more affectionate, which is crucial for settling in and enjoying what you do."

While he already had a strong fondness for the city and its people, Messi has grown even closer to Miami since fully immersing himself in the daily rhythm of life there. "I'm content, savoring this new chapter of my life—embracing the American experience, a dream I always held."
