Bellingham marks official debut with a goal:“This match was very special”

Jude Bellingham's Real Madrid career got off to a wonderful start as the midfielder scored in the competitive Real Madrid debut as they began their La Liga season with a victory at Athletic Bilbao.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Spanish giants for £88.5m from Borussia Dortmund this summer, got Real's second when he volleyed in from close range.
An impressive performance, Bellingham caught the eye early in the second half with a run from deep inside his half, skipping between two Athletic players before racing to the edge of their box.
He is the first English player to score in a competitive game for Real since David Beckham in 2007.
Bellingham played in all four of Real's pre-season friendlies, scoring in a 2-0 win over Manchester United in Texas.
Speaking to the media after the game, the former Borussia Dortmund star first burst out in emotion and expressed his feeling following the stellar debut performance.
Bellingham said: “I am not going to get too excited by the goal and the win. I’ve been taught that if you try to hit the target then you give yourself a chance. I didn’t get the best contact with it, I got a bit lucky, but I hit the target and it went in.”
Jude added, “This match was very special for me and the most important thing is the victory. I was fortunate to score. It's three points to start the season with.”

“We dominated and made a lot of chances. In the second half, we found it a bit difficult and we had to battle. We defended and played well on the counter-attack and we could've scored more goals.”
His first goal in LaLiga
“If you shoot you have a chance to score. I didn't connect well with the ball, but I was fortunate that it went in and it came off.”
On his teammates
“I enjoy playing with my teammates because of what they do with and without the ball. It's a pleasure to be with them and it makes me smile to play with them. I'm very pleased with the win and the goal.”
Praise from Manager

Bellingham is a fantastic kid, he displays quality, personality, and he is a hard worker. He is just fantastic," manager Carlo Ancelotti told Movistar Plus.
"He is very motivated to be here, he is a fantastic player and a very, very important signing.
"We were on fire and motivated, we had a very good collective commitment, and attitude, won many challenges, worked together defensively, a clean sheet was positive... it was a complete game, a very high-level first half and a second half of total control."

There is something about him; in Madrid there is a willingness to see in him a player that could mark an era here, to believe they are witnessing the birth of someone genuinely different. A curious, seductive combination of styles – on Spanish radio, one commentator kept insisting he had visions of Zidane, a tall, elegant stride, a soft touch – and roles. He plays at the top of the diamond. That, at least, is the theory; instead, he is kind of everywhere.
