Brazil striker Neymar has agreed to a personal contract with Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal. He will sign a two-year deal with Al Hilal for a whopping $175 million, according to L'Equip. That's just $1.7 million a week. How can humans deal with it?
French newspaper L'Equipe reported that PSG and Al Hilal would have to agree on transfer terms before a deal could be signed. Other reports say a €90m (£78m) transfer fee is close to being agreed.
Neymar's current contract with PSG runs until 2025.
However, his time in France appears to be coming to an end as the superstar striker will leave Europe for the Middle East, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Riyad Mahrez.
The world's most expensive player is at PSG in 2027 and has four years left on his contract, but the Parisians have said they are free to find a new club this summer. The Saudi Pro League has bolstered its financial strength with a number of new signings this summer and could add another big name in the coming days.
The 31-year-old Brazilian joined PSG from Barcelona for a world record transfer fee of €222 million ($244 million today) six years ago, the same year Kylian Mbappe signed from Monaco for 180 million. He joined PSG for €10,000. PSG had already received a world-record $332 million offer from Al Hilal for the transfer deadlocked Mbappe, who is in the final year of his contract. Mbappe, who reportedly refused to meet with Saudi Arabian club officials during a visit to Paris last month, is closely linked to a free move to Real Madrid next season.
Circumstances surrounding Mbappe were undesirably confusing all summer as the French player admitted he would not sign a new contract, meaning he could leave on a free loan next summer. PSG wanted to move the striker, and had been sidelined with Neymar, but have since changed course. They know Mbappe wants Real Madrid and even if he agrees new terms with PSG, his deal won't be long term. "The player returned to the first-team training squad this morning following very constructive and positive discussions between PSG and Kylian Mbappe ahead of the game against Lorient," the club said in a statement. "I feel that Kylian is committed to PSG," he told the team. Killian is back. "
Tensions between Mbappe and PSG eased moderately on Sunday when they were allowed to return to training following "constructive and positive discussions between the two sides".
Mbappe had to miss Saturday's match against Lorient because he was out of training. Midfielder Marco Verratti was also not selected by Luis Enrique's new manager, and after joining PSG in 2012, he is rumored to be moving to the Saudi League.
In Saudi Arabia, the former Santos player will join the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Neves, who left the Premier League to pursue big deals in the Middle East. PSG have already taken steps to strengthen their front line after signing former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique
